Please be so kind assist - my husband and I are going to Madeira for a 9 day holiday in April 2018 and my passport expires in June 2018 - I have a South African passport and live in Northern Ireland with a spousal visa. Do I have to apply for a new South African passport before applying for my Schengen visa? My problem is that the South African authorities might not have my new passport ready by April- even if a apply now? Please advise?

I have not had a request for further documentation. I applied to renew my British passport today 4/1/18.

When can I expect a response?
